[Objectives]
Biosphere covers heterogeneous substrates on Earth. This lecture provides
overview of various ecosystems in land and ocean, by around a dozen lecturers in Graduate School of Environmental Science dealing with unique target ecosystem and biological communities.
Lecturers focus on (1) biodiversity, (2) ecosystem function, and (3) their response to environmental change.caused by human activities.
[Goals]
Through this lecture, students are expected to achieve a whole-planet scale understanding of unique Earth biota, of which heterogeneity and diversity. It thus allows to image the ongoing effect of climate change on the ecosystem functioning and biodiversity on the Earth.
Non-bioscience students are welcomed
