Welcome to the Morikawa lab.
We are interested in various unique metabolic activities of environmental
microorganisms, including psychrophiles, thermophiles, oleophiles, and
rhizophiles.
We are trying to analyze their activities on the molecular level so that we
may add knowledge to understand the essential nature of living organisms.
We also aim to develop biotechnology that may help with preservation of healthy biosphere.
Ongoing research projects are,
1) A non-ribosomal peptide synthetase, ArfA/B/C
2) Enzymes that degrade toxic compounds and hydrocarbons
3) Biofilm formation by marine and soil bacteria
4) Biofilm formation by hyperthermophilic archaea
