Policy of study
Living organisms, whose shapes and functions are governed by environments, are then one of the most important environmental determining factors. We are studying on the simply structured microbial cells (bacteria and archaea), with interest in the nature and evolution of the life and in interaction between environments and living organisms. We are also trying to reveal the special functions of microbes on the molecular level which meet strong social needs, such as biotechnology for eliminating environmental pollutants or manufacturing useful chemicals.

Policy of education
Through the research work in the laboratory, we teach you morale and teamwork which are necessary for being a pivotal member of human society. We consider and improve your personal characters as much as possible and welcome both a challenger and a steady worker. We provide the member who did his/her best with opportunity to attend academic conference tours including overseas and experience something unusual. Moreover, we also expect you to become international-minded people by communicating with foreign students.
