Environments affects on the function and evolution of living organisms. At the same time living organisms are important factors that determine environments. Microbes have supported the global environments and prospered biosphere for 3.5 billion years. We are trying to understand the kernel and evolution of life through studies on environmental microbes. We are also interested in developing technologies for bioremediation and bioproduction of chemicals by understanding and utilizing special activity of microbes.

Educational policy

We expect you to learn moral and teamwork necessary for being active member of the society. We welcome both challenging workers and steady workers. If you study hard and make some progress, you may get chance to attend international or domestic meeting and experience different from daily life. When you obtain the way of thinking, “Give and Given” not “Give and Take”, you are ready to be graduated from the Morikawa Lab.
