私たちは自然界に生息するさまざまな微生物の優れた能力を分子レベルで理解し、「生命の本質を探る」と共に「快適な地球環境を守るために役立つバイオ技術の開発」を目指しています。
具体的には油田細菌、海洋細菌、超好熱菌、好冷菌、根圏微生物などを研究対象としています。
研究室の合言葉は

環境バイオテクノロジー学会2025年度大会 Annual meeting of Japan Society for Environmental Biotechnology (JSEB) 2025 & SATREPS Be-HoBiD Symposium 2025 Sapporo
環境バイオテクノロジー学会の2025年度大会を北海道大学クラーク会館にて開催しました。海外を含め169名の参加があり、2つのシンポジウムと77題の一般講演で議論も盛り上がり大成功を収めました。タイ国SATREPS Be-HoBiDプロジェクトの一つの成果として、ウキクサ含有バイオプラスチックキーホルダーを製作して参加者に配布しました。ほんのりとワカメのような匂いがして自然の恵みが感じられました。懇親会でもBe-HoBiDプロジェクトの成果として、サラヤ（株）、ADGreenfarm、Floatmeal、から食用ウキクサ：Wolffiaを食材として使った機能性食品メニューが提供されました。お酒もとことん北海道にこだわり、上川大雪酒造の畜大純米大吟醸酒（十勝ラベル）、サッポロクラシック夏限定ビール、セイコマート限定ワインG7シリーズ、そして道産食材のケータリング料理で参加者の方々に北海道を堪能していただきました。
This year's meeting of JSEB was held at Clark Hall, Hokkaido University. 169 people participated, including from overseas, and the two symposiums and 77 general lectures were very lively and successful. As one of the outputs of the Thailand SATREPS Be-HoBiD project, bioplastic key chains containing duckweed were prepared and gifted to the participants. The key chains smells like wakame seaweed, and we could feel the blessings of nature. At the social gathering, functional dishes using edible duckweed: Wolffia were provided by Saraya Co., Ltd., ADGreenfarm, and Floatmeal as another output of the project. The participants also enjoyed Hokkaido with Kamikawa Daisetsu Brewery's Chikudai Junmai Daiginjo Sake (Tokachi label), Sapporo Classic Beer of summer edition, Seico Mart limited wine G7 series, and catering dishes made with Hokkaido ingredients.
