Tree　X　Fungi

In the forest ecosystem, some fungi can degrade tree cell wall to use them as carbon sources although tree has systems to prevent microbial attack. In our laboratory, we will clarify the molecular mechanism of plant degradation abilities of fungi acquired through biological evolution. Based on the information from the basic research, we are aiming to apply fungal degrading enzymes to biomass utilizations and so on.
